Minor is a family organizer and cannot remove him

Hi. I’m trying to add my son to my family however I get this error message “You'll need to leave your current family group to join a new one. To leave a group, select Go to family group, find your name, and then select and Leave family group.” When I logI into his account he is the only person on that account and he is the family organizer even though his age is set to 11 years old. Ive tried to edit his date of birth but it is greyed out because he is a minor. There is also no option to leave the family group. If I logon with my account I don’t see him there as a family member. How can I resolve this issue? Thanks Brett

    :)

I understand now. Well, the other thing I can suggest is to follow the steps indicated by Microsoft to adjust the age, and after applying the changes, try to exit the family organizer again, here are the steps:

If you are an adult but have an incorrect date of birth on your account, you must change your account information as if you were a minor.

Sign in to your Microsoft account, like you were a child: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2253028

If prompted, enter your name and click Update.

You will then see the screen to update your date of birth.

I will be attentive to your response, Regards.

I'm sorry that the previous methods did not work for you, it is very strange that it does not give you the option to change the date of birth.

Well I was researching and found Mosken_L's suggestions on the Microsoft forum - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist, follow these steps:

First of all, you can visit How to change a date of birth for a Microsoft account - Microsoft Support (https://support.microsoft.com/account-billing/cómo-cambiar-una-fecha-de -birth-of-a-microsoft-account-837badbc-999e-54d2-2617-d19206b9540a) and then follow the instructions to change your account age information step by step.

Visit Manage parental consent - Microsoft Support (https://support.microsoft.com/accou...arental-c6951746-8ee5-8461-0809-fbd755cd902e) for more information about consent parental.

Or, you can visit Microsoft Child Safety: Manage Permission (https://account.live.com/mykids.aspx) to sign in to the primary account (your child's account), then "Manage Permissions," select the corresponding child account, then click "Edit this child's personal information" and then follow the instructions.

If this alternative does not work either, I recommend that you contact Microsoft support directly: https://support.microsoft.com/contactus

Thanks for the reply. The problem is that he is the only one in the group. I’m not there so I cannot remove him or add him as a family member to my account. He seems to have his own account and he is the organizer even though he is a minor.

Hello Mc-Allstar, my name is Oskayra, and I will be happy to help you.

Beforehand, it is important that you keep in mind that this is a public community forum, so we are players like you, we are not employees of Microsoft or Xbox. All users help each other with common problems.

I am very sorry for the problem you are going through, with the intention of being able to help you, I did an internal search on the Xbox forum and I found a publication, where they mention the steps to follow in this type of case and I thought it was good information, which you should take into account. count and try:

Any host in the family group can remove another member. Minor accounts are prohibited from making this change.

When a member is removed from a family group, they will not be able to use the Xbox service until they are added to another family group.

Hosts who are removed from the family group cannot manage members who are in that group. However, they have full rights to their account and can still share the main console when they log in to it.

How to remove a member from the Xbox family group:

Sign in with the appropriate account on the console.

Press the Xbox  button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > Account > Parental controls > Manage family members. If prompted, enter your password or PIN to validate that you are authorized to make changes.

Select the account you want to remove from the family group.

Select Remove <Name> from family. <Name> represents the name of the person you want to remove.

Select Remove from family to confirm that you want to remove the family member.

    To remove yourself online:

Sign in to your family's Microsoft account: https://account.microsoft.com/family?ref=xboxsupport

On your behalf, select Leave family.
