Minesweeper Consistently Crashes

I have had the same issue for several months where Microsoft Minesweeper (Premium; version 3.1.9160.0) on my Windows 10 Home (10.0.19042 Build 19042) crashes when I try to launch a Daily Challenge. The application simply shuts down. I re-launch the game;
it crashes again; I re-launch the game; sometimes in the middle of this process the application crashes even before I am able to navigate to the Daily Challenges. Eventually, I get to the Daily Challenges - now it's a 50% chance that the application will crash
again. Eventually, I get to where I can finally play the challenges.

I do not have this issue when I play any other variation within the app (Adventure, Custom, etc.).

I use Windows Defender for my antivirus. I also run MalwareBytes, but if I shut it down I still get the same response from Minesweeper.

I'm also not happy that Daily Challenges will not load if my VPN is turned on. Unless I turn off the VPN (Nord) completely I get the following error: "There was a problem downloading Daily Challenge data. Please refer to error code: 016000. Try Again/Cancel"
Other variants of the error code include 002000.

What can I do to resolve this issue?

Same issue for me! Once update from win8 pro to win8.1 pro, minesweeper always crashes on start. Green screen with minesweeper and MS logo, and then back to desktop.

i Dont even get the chance to select if i want to transfer worlds cause the game actually wont load in and it will crash everytime. I see the game art with the steve skin and all the animals and creepers etc, thats as far as i get

Can't say exactly what's causing your problem here but when I see stuff like this myself I do a 'hard reset' of my system. Hold your finger on the power button on the console itself for a few seconds. Usually fixes things for me.

Crashing Bug: Terribly annoying, ignores AutoSave; lost 30-45 minutes of progress. One day last week the session crashed 3 times in about 5-6 hours. Perhaps it was related to that sunspot activity. Hasn’t crashed yet today.
