Minecraft windows 10 "you need permission" however settings are correct

If you have Java Minecraft, sign in with your Mojang Account on the Minecraft Website, and you should get an offer to redeem a code for the Windows 10 Version.

However, it was long ago since I did that, and don't know where exactly you need to go.

After you got your code, you can go to the Windows Store App on your Windows 10 PC and redeem that code in the Store App to get Minecraft Windows 10 Edition.

EDIT: It seems that you need to have purchased the Java Edition before Oct. 19th 2018 to be eligible for getting Minecraft Windows 10 for free.

What Smwutches said is correct. Minecraft for Windows 10 is only playable on Windows 10 PC. To play on your Xbox One console, you'd need to purchase the

Xbox One version of Minecraft.

I think you need to allow storage permission for Minecraft PE:

System settings > Apps > Select Minecraft > Go into permissions and allow storage permissions.

Minecraft is not a part of the "Xbox Play Anywhere" set of games, so you would need to purchase it separately for Windows 10.

Therefore you will need to use a Microsoft Account and create an Xbox Live profile to login and play Minecraft Windows 10 edition.

We recommend creating a child Microsoft Account for your son so that he can login using his own account where his progress would be saved and it would not be associated to your own Microsoft account. You can then manage your son's account on
Windows 10 using parental controls through a Microsoft Family. Create a new Microsoft Account for your son using the correct birthdate and then create a Family group to add your son's account.

offline permissions in the Microsoft Store, your son should be able to login and play on his own Microsoft Account/Xbox Live profile even though his account didn't purchase the digital license. However, you will need to "prepare" the game to be played by
other accounts when yours is offline. The included link lists the steps to turn on offline permissions on your PC and how to prepare the game which only needs to be done once.
