Minecraft - Will Bedrock addons ever have the freedom that Java modding has?

Sorry to say but right now the Bedrock edition can't be modded like Java.
The only way to get extra content is via the marketplace store inside the game

Is this the Bedrock edition of Minecraft you're trying to play, or is this the Java edition? Those would be different solutions to get the controller to work.

I'm understanding your setup is a PC with Xbox 360 wireless controller receiver, an Xbox 360 controller, and Minecraft. The controller is working for other titles on the PC, but not so in Minecraft, correct? I am GUESSING that it's the Java version, because
I do know that the Bedrock edition has built in controller support. The Java edition would require additional mods to make it work, and if so, I would recommend reviewing the Official Minecraft forums for the best solutions that have mods from a trustworthy
site.

Minecraft has two main editions: Java and Bedrock. They have some differences in graphics, content, mods and cross-play. You can learn more about them here Minecraft Java or Bedrock Edition | Minecraft.

To use Minecraft Java and Bedrock, install Minecraft Launcher from MS store or Minecraft website. Then on the launcher, install Java package/update and do the same with bedrock edition.

If you still can’t access the Java edition, you may need to reach out to Mojang support for further assistance.

this is great, will there be the same level of mods possible as in java edition? I'm afraid I'll never purchase bedrock until it's got the mod possibilities java has.

you cant, windows 10 version is bedrock which is also on all platforms, the mojang website version that excepts mods is the java edition that is a completely seperate version of minecraft which has to be purchased through mojang.
