    Minecraft is not free to play. If you no longer have Game Pass, you need to purchase the game to continue playing it. It has nothing to do with online or offline.

    did you get minecraft from gamepass or did you purchase the game, if from gamepass then it won't play as you are no longer subscribed to gamepass.

    Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We understand you have issue with access to Minecraft. Is it possible the subscription you had and it expired was Ultimate game pass? As this subscription includes gold, and game pass. As Minecraft is on the game pass
    subscription. Then when you renewed Xbox live gold, you no longer have game pass so unable to access the game. You can check subscriptions and see if the ultimate is there and when it expired.

    Can I cancel current ultimate game pass to add 2 years of gold and re-subscribe for the full 3 yrs of ultimate?

    It will be longer work like that now.

    If cancel game Pass Ultimate it will still be active until the end of Ultimate Subscription Date.

    If you add Xbox Live Gold it will be converted to Ultimate.
