    My son is trying to update his Minecraft but it won’t download anything. It just is sitting there updating. We tried uninstalling and hard reset. Nothing is working.

    Minecraft update stuck.

    Hi, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

    To fix this, please perform a power cycle on your console by following the steps below:

    POWERCYCLE CONSOLE​​​

    ​​​

    1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off. ​​​

    2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller. ​​​

    If that didn't work resetting the console keeping games and apps will be the next option. Don't worry because as long as you're connected to Xbox Live your saved progress, games, will not be deleted. It will remove all of your accounts but you can add all of them later on.

    Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

    Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

    Select Reset console.

    Reset and keep my games & apps.

    It sounds like you’re experiencing an issue with Minecraft not launching properly, possibly due to an update. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:

    1. Check for Updates: Ensure both Minecraft and your Windows operating system are up to date.
    2. Repair Minecraft: Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Minecraft. Click it, then click “Advanced options” and click “Repair”.
    3. Reset Minecraft: If repairing doesn’t work, you might need to reset the app. Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Minecraft. Click it, then click “Advanced options” and click “Reset”. Be aware that this might delete any saved game data.
    4. Reinstall Minecraft: As a last resort, if none of the above work, you may need to uninstall and then reinstall Minecraft. This should be a last resort, as it will delete your saved game data unless you back up your data first.
