Minecraft says I no longer own it after migrating my account on Java edition.

I migrated my account a few days ago to get that neat cape for Java edition, but now the game actively refuses to let me play it. Trying to sign in on my Mojang account tells me that I can't because I migrated accounts, which is fine, but the problem is that the account I migrated to is saying I don't own the game.

On the Minecraft website, everything works fine, and it says I successfully migrated, and that I have that cape.

Everything works fine on the web browser with the new information and stuff like that, it's just when I get to the launcher and log in using my Microsoft account that the problems show up.

I already contacted Mojang and they haven't even responded, letalone provided a working solution. Please help if you can, as I really do want to play this game with some of my friends.

Unfortunately, the deadline for migrating your Minecraft account to a Microsoft account with entitlement to Minecraft: Java Edition and Minecraft: Bedrock Edition has passed. The migration process was open until May 10, 2023, and accounts that were not migrated by then are no longer eligible for the free Java Edition entitlement.

If you purchased Minecraft before the migration deadline, you will still be able to play Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. However, you will no longer be able to claim a free copy of Minecraft: Java Edition.

If you are still interested in playing Minecraft: Java Edition, you will need to purchase it separately from the Microsoft Store.

Yes, the migration completed successfully. It showed me the confirmation message and everything. My skin is even transported to the Microsoft account, and I can log in with it both in Mojang site (It no longer lets me log in with the Mojang account, only with Microsoft account), and the launcher. But it says I don't own Minecraft java Edition, and only lets me play demo.

I am having the exact same problem, except, this time I tried logging in through my other account that you were explaining and it says that account doesn't exist anymore.

if you found another workaround that would be great!

Hey I'm having the same issue as of 10/26/2021 and solved it

I migrated my Mojang account today and experienced the same issue, where the email I used to create my new Microsoft account for migration wouldn't let me play the game, stating I didn't own it and was stuck in the same loop.

Despite setting up the migration through my email of choice and receiving the migration confirmation to that email I found it just didn't work.

However...I recalled that when I purchased Java edition way back when it also gave me bedrock and made me create a Microsoft account for it. That bedrock account is under a different email and despite not being relevant at all to the migration and not being mentioned or used a single time during this process that THIS was the account it wanted me to use. Even though it made me create a new Microsoft account upon migration with my email of choice it decided to use my bedrock login instead.

I don't know why. But I would suggest instead of using the email and password you created for migrating try and use the one you use for bedrock if you have it. Worked for me. My old account and all its files are intact.
