Thank you for your reply. All privacy settings have been verified and are set to “Active” or “Everyone” so there should be no barrier to multi-player games and join groups.

The problem is not that I can’t join a specific Realm. It’s a general problem. Under Play, Minecraft says says “You need permission. You cannot play on Realms because of how your Xbox Live account is set up. This can be changed in your privacy & online safety
settings on Xbox Live."

My microsoft account is not a child account but it still has the same "error message" when I sign in with a child account. (I'm saying error message as in "you cannot play realms because of how your microsoft account
is set up")

My child is attempting to play in a realm on Minecraft Pocket Edition on his phone. It works just fine when we play on the Xbox, but we are traveling and he would like to connect from his phone. It says he cannot play because of how his Xbox live account
is set up. You can change these settings online. I went and double checked to make sure, all the privacy settings for Xbox One and Windows 10 are set to allow so he should be able to play online.

Thank you. I will try this. One more question. If it is the Xbox live gold that is the problem. Would it say on Minecraft that I can’t use realms because of Xbox live gold? Just wondering because it says I that it’s not working because the way my Microsoft account is set up. I don’t know if it’s the gold because I feel like it would say something different.
