Minecraft online play between 360 and Xbox one

Hi all. Can you please help. Our son and daughter have an Xbox one the other has a 360 both with Xbox live gold. Is it possible for the two of them to play on their own machines and invite each other as I am struggling to see how to do it. They appear on
friends lists - after some tweaking however just cannot get game invites sent to each other from either console to the other. Sorry for what is probably a simple question just need the help.

Playing Minecraft between devices and platforms

You can play Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition with other devices running Minecraft: Pocket Edition, such as Windows 10 and Windows Phone devices.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition can only be played with other Xbox 360 consoles on Xbox Live. The Xbox One edition can only be played online with other Xbox One consoles. There is no cross-platform play between the Xbox editions and other editions of Minecraft.

my son has been playing minecraft, saint row, far cry 4 etc in Xbox 360. is it possible to transfer the games to xbox one? minecraft is an online purchase. rest all the discs we bought from Game.

he doesnt want to upgrade to xbox one but ofcourse we are missing out the new features of xbox one and xbox 360 is getting out dated fast and would value for nothing soon.. ihave few consoles left like that and lying in the garage.. (ps2, xbox, psp etc)..

any advice on transferring the games would be helpful for me to decide on xbox one..

It can't be done sorry. Your only option there is splitscreen, profiles can be transferred if they want to do it that way.
