Minecraft multiplayer isn't working

For you to manage it you can simply sign in to https://account.xbox.com/settings.

If the system detects that your account is a child account you will be redirected to a support site and if not you will be able to change it successfully.

If you were redirected to a support page, please sign in to https://account.microsoft.com/family and check if there is an organizer account linked to your account then use the organizer account so sign in to https://account.xbox.com/settings then "allow" the setting on this screenshot:

I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble playing Minecraft multiplayer and I know how excited to play the game online. There are a few possible reasons why he might not be able to join multiplayer games. One of them is that your Microsoft account might not have the correct privacy and online safety settings, or the account doesn't have an active Xbox Game Pass Core (Live Gold) or Game Pass Ultimate.

Please do note that when accessing multiplayer features on Xbox Console, we need to have an active subscription.

To check and change these settings, you can follow these steps:
1. Sign in to your Microsoft account at Microsoft account | Your profile.

2. Check the Birthdate set on the account to make sure it is Adult. You can toggle the year of your birthdate then save the changes.

3. Then sign in your account to manage Xbox Privacy settings on this link: https://account.xbox.com/en-us/Settings

4. Make sure that the option "You can join multiplayer games", "Adding Friends" and "Communicating" is set to Allow.

5. If you make any changes, select Submit to save them.

6. Sign out your account from Microsoft Store App and Xbox App. Sign back in and try again access Minecraft multiplayer to see if it works.

Another possible reason is that his Microsoft account might not be linked to his Minecraft profile. To link them, you can follow these steps:

1. Launch Minecraft on his PC and sign in with his Microsoft account.

2. Go to Settings > Profile and make sure that the option "Use a Microsoft Account" is enabled.

3. If it is not enabled, select it and follow the instructions to link his account.

Just a friendly reminder though that to play an online multiplayer game on our Xbox console we need to have an active Xbox Live Gold subscription, it is required for paid games.

You need to have at least Xbox Live Gold subscription or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The Xbox Game Pass Ultimate includes Xbox Live Gold, that's why it is one of the options.

Please, review if these options are enabled:

Using the Xbox Family Settings app on your mobile device, enable Multiplayer for Minecraft.

In the Xbox Family Settings app:

Go to Settings > In Enable Minecraft > Select Allow this game.

Turn on Multiplayer to let a member play online with others

Enable Clubs so that a member can create and join Minecraft Realms servers.
