Minecraft Migration Successful - Logging in & "Forgot password?" not Working

Hi there Richard welcome to the community forum! Christopher here, an Xbox fan just like you and has been on Xbox for years already. I would really love to make your day by helping you out. This is a really common issue so for those of you having this same problem, there is an important step that Microsoft and Mojang leave off all of the FAQs when they just inanely repeat to sign in with your Microsoft account. From the Launcher log-in page, you have hit the button to go back to the accounts page. But then, don't click on your existing account that you want to sign into or you will just get back into the same problem loop that won't let you sign in. You have to add a new account. It is counter intuitive, because you are not actually setting up a new account. But once you click to add a new account you can choose to sign in with your Microsoft account in the Launcher. Once you do that, it will automatically use the Microsoft account to log you in from the Launcher. And my worlds were there without change.

Migration was successful. Tried to log in to Minecraft, got message: "Invalid email or password"

Hm. Changed the hotmail password & used it to log in to hotmail again. Worked.

Used same new password to log in to Minecraft, failed again same message: "Invalid email or password".

I'm stumped.

I'm sorry you are having issues with Minecraft, I know you and your son are frustrated. I will do my best to help you through this.

I understand you keep resetting the password, but see if any of these work. There have been a lot of people having issues due to the migration.

Here are some options according to the Minecraft support site - Minecraft: Java Edition Login Issues FAQ

• To reset the password for a Minecraft account (where you log in with your username) you need to visit account.mojang.com/migrate and migrate your account to a Mojang account. After doing this you will be able to reset your password.
  
• To reset the password for a Mojang account (where you log in with your email address) visit the Forgot Password page. 
  
• To reset the password for a Microsoft account visit the  forgotten password guide from Microsoft.

I have emails indicating my migration to Microsoft was successful, so I believe the path is the second one provided. However, I have never been able to play after the migration. I only have microsoft accounts associated with 2 emails. I have never created any others. I can log in to both Microsoft accounts with emails that received the successful migration email, but neither of them have minecraft license showing. Again, I do not have any other Microsoft accounts.
