Minecraft legacy won't launch anymore

I purchased a console bundle over 5 years ago that included Minecraft with the console digitally at purchase, just a few days ago trying to launch the game forced it back to the home screen with the message, "Looks like you need to renew gamepass."

I've power cycled the console, uninstalled and reinstalled, factory reset and nothing's worked. 40 minutes on troubleshooting call with Microsoft resulted in them telling me you're just gonna have to buy gamepass to play again. Does anyone have any ideas of what to do from here?

Are you downloading the game directly from your owned games, right?

If that's the case. Please try this, that could do the trick: (is a bit odd, but worth giving it a shot)

go to Settings > Network > Advanced Settings

Once you’re inside the Advanced Settings menu, go to DNS settings and select Manual from the list of available options.
When you get to the next screen, enter 8.8.8.8 in the box associated with the Primary DNS and 8.8.4.4 in the Secondary DNS box.

Once the default DNS addresses have been changed, restart your console and see if the issue has been resolved at the next console startup.
(If that doesn't work, use 1.1.1.1 as primary and 1.0.0.1 as secondary)

Minecraft ran an update on xbox one and now it wont launch. It just goes back to the home screen.

we tried a hard reset but this has not worked, any advice?

Try to see it as I do , it's marketing, it's business, and when your game is launched you won't care anymore.
