Minecraft launcher won't open if Minecraft is already running.

I have the same issue, sometimes wanting to open a second client for my another minecraft account but have to close my running game to be able to re-open the launcher !

Boring as hell ... please help fixing it (as LuckyVahin201 in the past I was able to open the launcher without closing the game)

I think you misunderstood me - I can still open Minecraft, but while it is running I am unable to open it, and instead it tabs to my Minecraft tab which is open at the moment, however this behaviour does not occur on my old device, and some of my friend's devices.

I have tried the steps provided to no avail, and I have tried both the Windows Store and the Mojang website version to no avail.

5. Have you tried resetting the gaming services app?

So far, from the details you provided, you can try the following steps and let us know the result. You can just skip those you have done already.

• Resetting the gaming services app.
  
• Press Windows key + I on the keyboard to open Windows settings.
  
• Go to Apps > Apps & Features. In the Apps & Feature section search and
  
• Click the Gaming services then click the advanced option.
  
• In the Reset section, click reset to reinitialize the service.
  

Once done reboot the PC, open and sign to the Microsoft store using the Microsoft account you used in migrating from the Mojang account. Then perform the steps below to get all available updates in the store. Run the launcher after the store is finished updating.

In the Microsoft store:
Latest version: Go to the Library, click the Get Updates button then click Update all.

Earlier version: Click the 3 dots menu at the upper-right corner of the store. Select "Downloads and Update". Click Get updates then Update all.

To have a better understanding with what you really want, may we ask why you want to reopen the launcher while Minecraft is already working? This is not a familiar issue.

I'm not the person who originally reported this issue, but I got the same. We do it, because we may want to have two clients open. This can be for all kinds of things, like AFKing in one server while doing things on another. Maybe to test things you need two accounts at once. Or you want to copy something from one profile to another, so you open one as example while building in the other.

I have a bandaid fix; setting the launcher to keep itself open when a game is launched. But this is also annoying, having to keep a second program open just in case you need another client.
