    Minecraft JAVA to Microsoft when there is already a Minecraft XBox Profile.


    My child uses minecraft for xbox profile under my microsoft account. Now i have to migrate my JAVA minecraft to microsoft but need to know if this will overwrite my child's profile or be disallowed.

    As previously noted. Microsoft owns Minecraft, however Minecraft Java is not a Microsoft or Xbox game. The PC equivalent is “Minecraft Windows 10 edition” the Java version is a separate game not part of Minecraft bedrock, their-for not cross play with other devices.

    Xbox owns W10 edition not Java edition

For the Microsoft account concern we can assist you with the process of how to recover it. However, for the Minecraft Java username or profile name, only Minecraft support team has tools regarding this feature. This Minecraft Java profile name is an in-game feature for Minecraft.     It looks like you need to wait for 30 days before you can change the Minecraft Java profile name.

    Rest assured that the Xbox profile gamertag does not have anything to do with your Minecraft Java gamertag, they are stored on different databases and different servers.

    When you sign in on the Minecraft website it does show that you own Java Edition, right?
