Minecraft: Java Edition still unavailable on launcher

Hello!

I bought Minecraft: Java Edition about 10 years ago, occasionally played it up until now. Some time ago Minecraft's site asked me if I wanted to migrate my Mojang Account to Microsoft Account or something like that, so I did it. I didn't download it back then because I didn't want to play immediately.

Today I wanted to download it on a new PC and it all went downhill. According to minecraft.net, when I want to download Minecraft: Java Edition it allows me to do so, no questions asked. When I download the launcher and open it: according to my account in Minecraft Launcher - I can only play DEMO version of Minecraft: Java Edition (same for Minecraft for Windows). The account is literally the same, I logged in using the same e-mail, password, even the Xbox gamer tag is exactly the same. How on earth is it possible that the website of the game says that I do indeed own the game and the launcher of the game says I don't own anything?

I have this exact issue. I own the Minecraft Bedrock edition (for windows 10), and can install and play it through the minecraft launcher. I get the message in the launcher that I'm eligible for the Java edition, and click to try to redeem it, which takes me here: https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/store/minecraft-java-bedrock-edition-for-pc/9nxp44l49shj I sign in to my Microsoft account on the web, and it still says "Buy" rather than "Get" and there's no option to change things.

I've tried uninstalling all minecraft stuff, resetting my windows store and xbox app accounts, and restarting the computer. I can reinstall minecraft just fine and still play the Bedrock Edition, but the Java edition remains unavailable.

Hi Paweł_32598, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

I have here a series of steps that you may need to check and validate.

1. Please double-check you are logging in to the same Microsoft account you used to migrate your Mojang account.

2. Make sure you are not logging in with your Mojang account. Migrated accounts will only be able to log in with your Microsoft account.

Once confirmed, kindly sign out on your Minecraft launcher then restart your PC before signing back in.

Hello mimim2,

The Minecraft launcher you are referring to is only for the Java edition of Minecraft. The Java edition and Windows 10, are two separate games. In order to launch and play Minecraft from the launcher you are using in the last image, you must buy the Java
edition from the site, not the Windows 10 version. Minecraft Java Edition | Minecraft. Annoying I know, but when Microsoft acquired Minecraft they released
their own version of the game on their platform. Hope this helps

It was Java Edition. I tried repairing/resetting, reinstalling the launcher a few times, and it's still not showing up with my Minecraft account.

are you playing minecraft java edition or bedrock, as java i think does not use your gamertag. as you mentioned the minecraft launcher.
