Minecraft Java Edition: Multiplayer Mode suddenly greyed out.

many thanks for the quick reply. I went through your suggested steps. I even made sure I signed out of microsoft in between and signed back in. Also we restarted my son's mba, as you said. Unfortunately to no avail! :-(

Any other ideas? Would it make sense to block all online settings not just the ones you mentioned above and re-set them again, or doesn't that make any difference?

We tried it and now it is working. I don't exactly know what the real problem was but now it is working. Thanks a lot for your help.

We may need to refresh his account settings. If he is added as a member on your family group please sign in to https://account.xbox.com/settings using your account and then "block" the settings below then "submit", after that "allow" again and then "submit".

Restart the device after making the changes.

* You can see and upload community creations

* You can communicate outside of Xbox Live with voice & text

* Others can communicate with voice, text, or invites

* You can play with people outside of Xbox Live

* You can create and join clubs

* You can join multiplayer games
