Minecraft Java Edition License Missing After Migration and Xbox Account Conflict

Hello,

I’m having a serious issue with my Minecraft: Java Edition license.

I purchased Minecraft: Java Edition years ago via Mojang and successfully migrated it to my Microsoft account.

A few months ago, I bought an Xbox and used the same Microsoft email address to set it up.

Since then, Minecraft no longer shows up on my PC, and the system says I don’t own the game.

Both Mojang and Microsoft support keep redirecting me to each other without solving the issue.

Microsoft says no game is tied to my account (because the Xbox account shows as newly created).

Mojang says to contact Microsoft because the account has already been migrated.

I’m sure I used the same Microsoft account all along. I believe the issue is that creating an Xbox profile duplicated my existing Microsoft account structure, and now my license is linked to a version that’s no longer visible.

I still have my migration confirmation email from Mojang.
I no longer have the transaction ID, as the game was purchased years ago.

Please, I just want help recovering access to my game. Can someone from the Microsoft team or Community advise what I can do next? This is extremely frustrating.

Sorry to hear about what happened, however, kindly note that since you're in a public forum, most of us here are end-users like you as well and have no access to accounts.

As long as you've migrated successfully, the game will be bound to the Microsoft account that you used. Kindly sign in at minecraft.net/login to see if you own the game.

Note: This is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate, safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.

If the game shows buy, I would suggest checking your other accounts if you have any. If you're on PC, go to Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts to see all the accounts you've used and try logging them in one by one at minecraft.net/login

If still none, it's possible it bugged out and it since it has something to do with your account, you may need to contact Xbox through chat or phone, by logging in to your account here: https://support.xbox.com/contact-us as providing sensitive information through forums is not allowed.

Yes, it is possible to install Minecraft Bedrock Edition on PC, in the Launcher it appears with the name "Minecraft for Windows".

Regarding the migration question, don't worry, your Minecraft Java Edition will not disappear, the only thing that will change is that the game license will be linked to the Microsoft account where you migrate it and after that to be able to run the game you will only have to log in with your Microsoft account instead of your Mojang account.

To set your expectations properly, in your case that you missed the migration period it means you no longer have access to your Java Edition account or Minecraft: Java Edition. And if you wish to continue playing Minecraft, you will have to buy Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition using a Microsoft account.

This allows you to access to both Java and Bedrock editions and unmigrated Mojang accounts will not be able to sign in to Minecraft.net or the Minecraft Launcher to migrate.
