Minecraft java account username

I bought minecraft on an account a decent while back, after migration however whenever I try to log into the account it asks me to enter a profile name so I entered the profile name that the account used to have and I get the error that the name is already taken. I use namemc and confirm that the same account still has the name so it's not on someone elses account. I tried a new username in hopes it changes the original and I can swap back but however I had no luck. Is there anyway I can get my original name back? I have the transaction id, original password and probably all credentials to prove it's my account other than the inability to log in as its impossible now since migration.

Recently, Microsoft started to integrate Minecraft Java accounts with Microsoft accounts. Could you have merged the wrong account at some point or signed in with the wrong account?

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately this is the only way to get a gamertag change right now. However, I did want to clarify that your Minecraft Java username is separate from your gamertag. In-game your username will display your Minecraft Java username and not your gamertag. You are free to change your Minecraft Java username as many times as you would like for free after each waiting period. I hope this answered your question.

Yes, one of my Microsoft accounts DOES show up as owning the game. However it also has a "Profile Name" button under the Minecraft Java section on the My Games tab, and it tells me that my username is already taken when I enter the username I was using on my Java account before migration.

We understand that you wanted to get back your Minecraft Java username. As per support article, if you missed your chance to migrate, your capes, skin will be tied to your previous Java Edition and will not be recoverable while usernames will not be released until the later date. Since you have the transaction ID and other credentials to prove that the account belongs to you, I recommend that you contact Minecraft support directly. They will be able to assist you with recovering your original username. You can reach out to them through their support website or by submitting a ticket.
