Minecraft for the Nintendo Switch is not allowing me to play online using Cross Play!

Thanks for coming to the forums with your issue. Here is a guide to change the
privacy and online settings.We
will give you the steps to change the exact ones for the cross platform use.

1. Go to Xbox.com and sign in to your account (this must be an adult account).
   
   
   
2. Once signed in, Select the gamertag for your child's account.
   
   
3. Select Xbox settings. If you don't see this option, select
   More links … and then select Xbox settings.
   
4. Click on privacy and online safety.
   
5. Select either the Xbox One/Windows 10 Online Safety tab or the Privacy
   tab. Review the current settings and update any that you want to change..
   
   
6. The two you want to make sure say allow and everybody are:

1. "you can play with people outside of Xbox live" set to allow

2. "you can communicate outside of Xbox live with voice and text" set to allow

Microsoft account. Xbox Live Gold required for online multiplayer on Xbox One. PlayStation Plus Membership required for online multiplayer on Playstation 4. Nintendo Switch Online membership required for online multiplayer on Nintendo Switch.

To play Minecraft with players on Xbox and PlayStation while you're on a Nintendo Switch, make sure all players are using the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft, which supports cross-platform play across these consoles.

Older editions of Minecraft on console will not work.

Sign in with a Microsoft account on your Nintendo Switch, and add your friends using their Xbox Gamertags,

Make sure everyone have the mandatory online subscriptions (Nintendo Switch Online, Xbox Game Pass Core, PlayStation Plus) for online multiplayer. Otherwise, online multiplayer will not work.

Once done, select “Play” and you'll see your friends in the “Friends” tab. You can join them in their world, or even create a Realm to play together.
