Minecraft, emails and a family account.......this has got everything!

2) Are you attempting to purchase Minecraft on your daughter's primary account, or did she already own the game before attempting to migrate?
3) Please confirm if the game was being purchased from the Microsoft Store PC application or on a game console (Xbox, PlayStation, Switch)

Sorry it’s taken forever to get back to you but we had a disappearing cat drama going on. Thankfully the little madam is home safe and well, so now I can concentrate back on other things that aren’t missing cat related.



So lets get back to this mystery……..



(I apologise in advance for my waffling but this is also turning into a cathartic process now)





You asked me the following questions in your email of 10th November 2021:

1. Please confirm if you’re primarily attempting to access your daughter’s primary Minecraft account.
   

Answer: Yes, I was attempting to migrate my daughter’s account over from Jarva.

1. Are you attempting to purchase Minecraft on your daughter’s primary account, or did she already own the game before attempting to migrate?
   

Answer: She already owned it and had been playing the game for several months prior to the migration. Please read the rest of the email for a fuller answer.

1. Please confirm if the game was being purchased from the Microsoft Stores PC application or on a game console (Xbox, PlayStation, switch)
   

Answer: The game was purchased via PC, not sure what format this was in?



Further information:



As I stated in my original question / scream for help! I was attempting to log into my daughter’s account via the Microsoft platform on her PC. Initially it looked good and all her log in details were present. However, it was just the one screen and wouldn’t allow her to get back to her games etc. I did contact Minecraft direct about this and after a few promising emails back and forth, they informed me that it was a Microsoft problem and not theirs.



It was at this point that I threw my hands up in the air and decided to bite the flipping bullet and buy the game again. It was a simple choice given that my time is precious and I had already spent a ridiculous amount of it trying to puzzle out what the hell was going on. Anyway, that when things got messy.



When I tried to buy the game, my PC just kept recognising that I already had the game (re my daughter’s login etc) and it kept asking me if I wanted to download it again…..which I did and then the game still wouldn’t work. So then in a flash of inspiration I had the brilliant idea of creating a brand new email for my daughter. I was so very proud of myself!



Because my daughter is only 8 a lot of parental controls were activated. To cut a long story short (honestly this is the short version!) I somehow managed to add £25.00 to my Microsoft family account under my daughter’s details (I’m still not sure how the hell I managed that!)



So now, picture the scene, I’ve done all this leg work, I’ve accessed systems, I’ve achieved the unachievable …because I’m hopeless with computers and now I feel like I’m poised on the edge of greatness. I’ve done all this without the help of my computer gifted 15 year old son who constantly runs away whenever I ask for help. I gather the family round to witness my victory. I go to the purchase option and then……. A big fat warning banner comes up saying that I don’t have permission to buy the game. I throw myself around the room in a dramatic scene and have to retreat for a little lie-down.



After regrouping and giving myself a stern uplifting talk I go back to the PC…. I then go on a wild goose chase trying to lift the permissions. This isn’t easy because of my obvious novice computer status and the fact that I have a crying 8 year old on my shoulder.



Just setting the scene for you there….



So now I think I’m at the point where I’ve ticked all the boxes….

1. Created a new email account (check)
   
2. Added funds via Microsoft family (check)
   
3. Lifted the restrictions to enable my daughter to purchase the game (check)
   

I should just be able to go ahead and buy the game… shouldn’t I??? WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!



Everything was going great until I attempted to buy the game. It asked me to sign in……As this wasn’t my first rodeo, I had carefully written down the email password. I inputted the details only to be told that the password was wrong (It so wasn’t!) So at this point I was like, “ok, I’m game” I dutifully pressed the ‘forgotten password’ button and sighted my own email address for the recovery.



Have you ever tried to recover a password from an email account that you have just created…? An account that has never sent or received any emails? An account that was solely created for the purposes of playing a game?



I hadn’t , I was asked a lot of questions ranging from, ‘emails you have sent to others’ to previous passwords used for the account. Obviously because this was a brand new account (which also happened to be linked to the Microsoft family account with a £25 credit) I couldn’t answer the questions fully so I was summarily dismissed by the bots stating I had failed security.



I am now at a loss…. What should I do? Should I make up another email address in attempt to buy the game again ? How do I recover the £25 credit ? is it possible to actually recover the original game?



I am up the wall with this……please please help me!!!

hi Lucas, minecraft java edition was purchased through mojang and then the account was migrated to my Microsoft account. My son has his own Microsoft account and it's been added to the family account. Now I need to change the Minecraft login credential to using his microsoft email.

I may have accidentally posted a URL.
