Minecraft - can I access old worlds if I swap from the disc to the download version of the ...

My boys seem to be playing a lot of minecraft (I'm a bad parent I know) but was disappointed to discover you can't copy the game on to the hard drive so am concerned the xbox console is being overworked / being worn out. I thought about buying the download
version but wasn't sure what would happen to access to all their old worlds? Would it be a seamless transition? Also would it make any difference as to which gamer profile purchased the game - would both boys have access when they wanted independent of each

How do I transfer my Minecraft Worlds?

Hello I just got my new Xbox One S with the newest version of Minecraft. I am having trouble transferring my old worlds from the Xbox 360 to the Xbox One. I already uploaded the worlds to the Xbox One from the 360, but when I try to synch my old worlds on
Minecraft: Better Together nothing comes up. Do I have to buy Minecraft: Xbox One Edition in order to transfer the worlds?

I'm having similar issue. I started world on xbox one, then copied to minecraft (btu version) and can play that from xbox, but I cannot access that world from minecraft pe. I am signed in with my xbox live account in both places but still cannot see my saved
worlds from the other device

 

Both the disc and the digital download are exactly the same item so your boys will still be able to access all the content they previously could.

 

Thanks - to confirm then if I buy the downloadable version of the game, I can run it from my hard drive without the need for the old disc to be in the machine and my boys will be able to access all the worlds they created with the disc version...will they
also be able to use all the tetra packs they've previously bought too?

Everything will work fine no matter which copy of the game they use. All worlds and items will be accessible.
