Minecraft - Business and Personal Accounts

Hello,

I'm trying to migrate my Minecraft account to Microsoft. I host my email with Microsoft, which means it's recognized as a "Business" instead of "Personal" account. When I try to create an alias or use a different domain that is also hosted with Microsoft, I get the same error.

How do I migrate my Minecraft account to Microsoft if I'm unable to create a "Personal" account? I host my email with Microsoft because I don't use Gmail or other providers, and isn't, in my opinion, a valid solution. I shouldn't have to create separate, 3rd party email accounts that is outside of the service I pay for in order to play Minecraft.

Is there any way I can create a 'Personal' Microsoft account with an email address hosted in my Microsoft account?

Hi Josef,

Thanks for your reply, It's really disappointing that hosting email with Microsoft means many Microsoft services are not available without using a separate email service. Whoever is setting this direction that defines what a 'Business' account is and what it can and cannot do is doing a great disservice to Microsoft as a whole.

I've setup a separate outlook.com account just for this for now, I think I'll look at migrating my email to another provider however, one that doesn't cripple my ability to use some of their services simply because I pay for their other services.

Hi Josef,

I have a custom domain that is hosted with Microsoft under a Microsoft 365 Business Standard License.

I checked, and the only domains available for me to create aliases for are the domains I have setup and <account name>.onmicrosoft.com.

I tried creating a onmicrosoft.com address, but I got the same error:

"You can't sign up here with a work or school email address."

Thanks, sadly you in this case need to create a personal Microsoft account

Due to I don't think it's possible to migrate a business account to a personal account :c
You can try double checking this with Microsoft support, but I doubt it

If I understood well, you actually have a Microsoft account considered as a business account, right?

If you try adding an alias, are you able to add an alias using a regular @outlook.com domain?

We understand that the two accounts can not be linked. My son has set up the PC with his personal Microsoft account. But I have bought the game through Mojaang via my personal Microsoft account. It is however asking us to log into the store with a business or school account. I was hoping to link Minecraft with my business account instead of my personal account and make it work that way around.
