Minecraft bought on main account and not able to be used by family (kids) account

All content bought with the main account (yours, since it's your home xbox) will work for every user on the same console. The content that your kids bought under their account will only work if they are logged into these accounts. For example, one of your
kids bought Minecraft with his account that isn't the home xbox, so in order to access the game he must be logged in but any other account won't be able to play it.

So every content bought under accounts that aren't the main account on that xbox can't access it.

incorrect, i do this for my kids all the time

1. log into the kids account on the pc.

2. open the store and log out of the windows 10 store and log into it with your account.

3. go to download history and download minecraft (if already installed on the main profile this will be near enough instant.)

4. once done log out of the windows store and log out of windows, log back in to the kids account and he can then play minecraft all he wants.

I have 5 kids and they all use my minecraft purchase on their pcs with their own accounts. as long as they are a part of your microsoft family all is good.

I have a somewhat similar issue.

My Daughter (11) uses her mothers (my ex) microsoft account to sign into various games like minecraft on her ipad.

So I bought an xbox for christmas a couple of years ago (it was for the kids i swear) and not having a microsoft account of my own, we signed in using my ex’s account so the kids could get playing asap.

Things are very amicable between us so she doesn’t mind us using the account to which i have full access, but its still her main email and onedrive account and I would just prefer if we had seperate accounts.

So my question is, if i join “her” microsoft family as an adult with my own microsoft email and then delete her from it, will all of our purchases remain within that family with me as the new main account holder/adult?

The main problem in this is that you were added in a new family. This was not necessary and meant to be.

So of course the kids stayed in the "old" family where the only adult now is your brother.

One solution could be, that even if your brother doesn't own a One you may log in into his account on your One and remove the kids from his account so you are able to add them to the "new" family again.

I experienced same situation. I tried to buy Minecraft Java Edition, following the steps. It seemed as if I needed to add money on my kids Microsoft account, but after complicated family security approval it made me purchase directly on Minecraft site (Not able to use Microsoft account balance).

Not only confusing, it was unpleasant and scammy feeling when you are trying to buy Xmas present for your family. :-(
