Minecraft beta cave entrance issues?

I concur!! Another minor detail that I love is that caves no longer have entrance doors!! I remember playing Oblivion thinking "Did all of these bandits get together and decide they needed doors at ALL cave entrances?".

its probably underground. look around for some cliffs and there should be a cave entrance.

On my last playthrough the stone was in Reeking Cave, but I had to get it by going through the dungeon escape route from the Embassy. If I went directly into the cave entrance, I could not jump to the ledge where the stone was.

A good way to know where they are. Use your map and put a waypoint on the loot/item you're looking for, make sure it snaps to the loot/item (NOTE they will disappear if you're right on top of it, so back off a bit if you have to). Then not only will it give
you the range but an arrow pointing up/down.



If it's pointing down you're definately looking at a cave etc, so as Ramon said look for the dark patch on the map nearby and that's probably your cave entrance or just hunt around the hill you're on to find it as they're not that difficult to find. If there's
water nearby 9/10 the cave entrance will be there.

One good way to find big caves is look for floating pieces of land. If you see those there's a very good chance of a large cave directly under that spot. Also pay attention to the floor of lakes, sometimes they collapse and you'll find cool entrances.
