Minecraft Bedrock Edition for PC issues with permissions to join other peoples realms

When I tried to join my friends realm I was told that my account does not have permissions to do that and that I would have to change them and it gave me a support link. So I clicked the link and it took me to a site describing solutions that all would not help with my problem except for the last one which was to go change the settings. But it didn't say where to do so. So eventually I used the xbox companion app to find the privacy settings and it took me to another support page instead of the page to change my settings. There was even a link on said page to take me to the page for me to change my settings but the link just took me right back to the same exact site that I just used to click the link. I have no idea why it keeps doing this but I literally cannot change any of my privacy settings because of this issue and every other way I could think of to try and get around it took me right back to this support page.

It must be that my account is still a child account even though I'm 18.

How can I change that?

Please sign in to https://account.xbox.com/settings, and ensure none of the multiplayer permissions are blocked.

Note that if you are a child account, you won't be granted access to the link since it requires an adult account to change them for you!

Hi,

This probably is not with you. This is probably with the people trying to join the Realm. Are the others on Xbox? If so, they should be following the steps to enable Cross-Platform gameplay for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition.

I would think that lies in specific permissions for the realm? I would guess that it's not a setting on the Microsoft account itself, but how the realm is secured. I don't have a lot of first hand experience in this, but take a look at settings for the
realm? Maybe invite yourself to the realm?

Another thing to check would be what edition of Minecraft it is for the "Pocket Edition"? I'd check if there is a proper Minecraft edition on iOS which might cause the issue, as opposed to the Xbox One edition being the cause, it could be that there is
a Minecraft (bedrock edition) which would be cross-platform, and not the "Pocket Edition"

Let us know if that doesn't seem to be the case and we can see some other steps for investigation.

Hey there! You're going to need to verify which version of Minecraft you have. There are two on the Xbox One that you could have.

Minecraft: Xbox One Edition is no longer supported. It's playable, but it can't be found in the Store and does not receive updates. This version of the game does not have Realms access.

Minecraft/Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition/Minecraft: Bedrock Edition (All just different names for the same game) is the version with Realms that are cross-compatible.

Java version (only available on PC) is not compatible with Xbox.

If your child's friend has the Realm set up on the correct version of Minecraft, you just need a Gold Subscription. Realm hosts pay the monthly fee to keep the Realm online. The friend will need to invite your friend/add them as a Realm member from their
Xbox or PC, then your child will receive a little envelope thing on their Minecraft menu. That is the Realm invitation. Once that's accepted, they should be able to join the Realm.
