Minecraft (1.7.0) - "Unable to connect to server" (Xbox One + Windows 10 Crossplay)

We've tried everything that we can think of to play online together. My buddy has even contacted Mojang support. While they gave it effort, non of their suggestions worked. Here's the details:

I am on Xbox One. My buddy is on PC with Windows 10. We are able to chat, become friends, and be in each others' party through Xbox Live. We are able to see each other in Minecraft. But every time we try to join each others' world (or 'realm'), it gives
us the message "Unable to connect to realm" or "Unable to connect to world".

Some extra information:

1.) We are both on the same version. (1.7.0)

2.) I am able to connect to a buddy that is on Xbox One and he can connect to me.

3.) We've uninstalled and reinstalled with the same results.

4.) My Xbox One NAT is 'open'

Please help us out. We've been off and on trying this for days now and are about to just request refunds and try something else.

How to do crossplay Windows 10 and XBOX One Minecraft

I recently purchased Minecraft for XBOX One, Minecraft for Windows 10, and a Gold Live Subscription. All are using the same gamer account for XBOX. Both the XBOX One and the Windows 10 computer are on the same network. How do I get them to play together
in crossplay?

Thanks for your post, has Minecraft always been acting like this? Was there any point where your friend could connect to your server? Do try re-installation of the game on both ends and attempt to play together check out the links below for steps to do so.

Thanks for your reply. We both just recently purchased Minecraft (around 4 days ago). And we've not been able to connect to each others' world a single time. As for your advise to uninstall and re-install:
