Might as well be a brick when XBL is down

Hey there, Xbox Support. I'm trying to understand why when XBL goes down I can't play any of my digital downloads. You know how infuriating it is to have paid for something then get asked "Do you own this game?" Yes I own the damn game! I have 100 hrs in
it!!!! Where's the incentive to keep buying games from Xbox store when I can just get a hard copy from GameStop? This is unnacceptable. This isn't directed at the social media person replying to all of this hate, but if you could pass this along to your higher
ups that would be great. I've been on XBL for over 10 years and am very very close to shutting down my XB1 for good and switching to my PS4. I understand there are IT issues occasionally, but for it to render my console COMPLETELY useless is absurd. I have
attached a picture of what I'm encountering which includes the error code. It is currently 8:21pm EST on April 2, 2018. According to Xbox Support this issue began at 1:11pm EST.

Additionally, getting help from Xbox, let alone just getting ahold of someone is near impossible. I have to come to forums to voice my complaint, which in the past has proven frivolous. A reply and some kind of explaination would be wonderful as to why I
should continue to support a company that doesn't really seem to value its long-time, core customers.

Well, one thing to try is, borrow one off a friend, if the console does not shut down after 30 mins, you will know. Thinking about it, try cleaning the brick. Hoover the vents on the brick, might be a build up of dust in there causing it to overheat.

 

Do you have the console set as your Home console? If not, then your licenses are not tied to your console and without the internet to verify your licenses the system can't tell if you actually own the game or not.

 

Smwutches, thanks for your reply. I am unsure if my Xbox is set to home. How would I check this and shouldn't it come like that? Thanks for your help.

 

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
2. Select System > Settings > Personalization, and then select My home Xbox.
3. Review the information, and then do one of the following:
   • Select Make this my home Xbox to designate the console as your home Xbox.
   • Select This is not my home Xbox to remove the designation.

It's not automatically set up like that. When you first sign in it does ask if you want to set it as your Home though.
