Microsoft Unwilling to Honor Xbox One X Warranty

I purchased a new Xbox One X on Amazon in August 2019.

I am a divorced father. I have kids every other weekend. They don't use it every time they visit. So Xbox is lightly used.

It suddenly stopped working. It powers up and the powers down on its own about 4 seconds later.

I have attempted all recommended corrections on the website.

I contacted Microsoft Support and was told they would not honor the one year warranty.

I asked for a supervisor. They would not give one to me. They would not give me a name, a number or schedule anotehr time. They said they would add it to the intermal memo that I requested one.

A supervisor subsequently called and left a voicemail with no instructions on how to call him back. They sent me back to the website.

Has anyone had this happen to them? Does anyone know how to reach a supervisor?

Yes. I showed them the Amazon receipt.

They said it was a third party seller and will not honor the warranty from the date of purchase. I pointed out that (a) it was purchased on amazon, (b) the Amazon receipt specifically says the product was "NEW" and (c) there was no disclaimer anywhere on
the receipt or the purchase listing saying that the warranty will be honored for less than one year from time of purchase.

No supervisor is available. They would not give me a name or number or schedule anotehr time to call. They would only note my request in the file. I was pleasantly surprised that I actually received a call. And then terribly disappointed that there is
no ability to call back.

I spent a lot of money on something that does not work and seem to have no recourse.

Hey there, the instant i saw the above....yeah i think unfortunately you might be on the hook. Even though it was listed as NEW on amazon, if it was a third party seller, many times warranties arent going to be honored. Now if it was from Amazon itself,
i think you would be ok. Its possible this third party seller had the system for a while, meaning the clock was running on the warranty and by the time you got it....wish i coild help you more but i think thats whats going on here

Do you know if you got the warranty through Xbox or Amazon because I know Amazon has their own warranties that they give for products so maybe try to to see if there's something Amazon can do about it if Xbox / Microsoft can't help

This is strange because you should have a 12 month warranty

Have you register the console over at https://account.microsoft.com/devices/

It should show you how much warranty is reaming and scheduled a repair.

Yes. When I did it said the my warranty had expired. I waited in line. Sent the proof of purchase and they said tough beans.

Thats why I need the supervisor.

Hi Pete,

I'd say it'll be very difficult to reach a supervisor at the best of times let alone now when they are short staffed because of Covud 19.

I'd say they'll make you pay to have it fixed if it's out of warranty.
