Microsoft subscribes me to gamepass ultimate without my knowledge

Trying the 1 dollar three month gamepass has been the worst experience of my life. First I buy the pass, all goes well. Next I want to cancel the subscription AFTER the three months are up. I press the buttons in the app, NONE of which work.

I give up, next thing I know I'm subscribed to the ultimate pass. I never consented to doing this. After much searching through the worst helpdesk in history I manage to cancel it, now my three month for 1 dollar deal also ends after just one month.

Microsoft, I swear to God.

I want the three month trial I paid for, I do not want ultimate and I do not want to forfeit the gamepass I already paid for. Why is this app trying to scam me?
I have seen better service from actual illicit webshops.

I still can't use the actual app to manage my subscriptions and I still cannot reach anyone working at Microsoft, something I am absolutely sure Microsoft broke on purpose to blatantly steal from people with automatically continuing subscriptions and give them no way to fix the issue.

When you make the purchase, it does warn you that auto-renewal will be turned on once you confirm the purchase. By confirming the purchase, you agree to start a recurring subscription. You can turn off recurring subscriptions at http://account.microsoft.com which would have left the remainder of the 3 months running, but you wouldn't have been automatically renewed and wouldn't have to pay again after the 3 months. By cancelling, you cancel the remainder of the subscription. You can try contacting support and speak to billing, but there is no guarantee they can do anything to get your 3 months back. http://support.xbox.com/contact-us

It absolutely did not warn me, none of the buttons even did anything. All I got was an email saying I was now subscribed to gamepass ultimate after I had tried to cancel the recurring billing. I pressed the "manage" button on both regular gamepass and gamepass ultimate, both didn't do anything and I gave up. A day later I got that email. I swear to you the buttons did not work, and I never agreed to subscribe to ultimate. Apparently now my trial is gone too.

Well, I'm never actually buying that gamepass that's for sure.

First of check what subscriptions you have active via your Microsoft account.

You can have GamePass without Xbox Live Gold. Is this not a simple case of just going to the store and subscribing to Live Gold again?

Ultimate just allows you to have one payment for Live Gold and GamePass instead of two subscriptions.

Once you have turned off auto renew, you have to reinstate any subscriptions you want to re-start. Nothing is reinstated without your knowledge or request.

To my knowledge he is not gamesharing with anyone else that has Gamepass Ultimate.

to my knowledge access to everything requires gamepass ultimate, gamepass pc just gives you access to the campaigns. (for CODS that is).
