    Using Windows 11. However, I was also using windows 10 a few hours ago with the same problem. (I thought upgrading to 11 might fix it)

    I am on an admin account, and have tried everything running normally and as admin.

    The game is Age of Empires II: DE

    I try to lunch the game and then the Microsoft Store Package Dependency Installer asks for permission to access something. Regardless of whether I click yes or no, the game will not launch and I will get an alert saying that I do not have access to a specific file.

    This is what I have done to try and fix it that I gathered from other searches, with no success:

    1. If you are able to open MS Store, open MS Store > Click on your profile picture on top right and sign-out. Then sign-in again. Also relog in to the Xbox App

    2. Try to reset the app
    Windows Key+i > Apps > Scroll down to this App > Click this App > Advanced options > Reset

    3. Windows Key+i > Apps > Scroll down to this App > Click this App > Uninstall. If Uninstall is not enabled - Uninstall this by below method
    Uninstall it using Windows 10 Store App Unistaller - Apps-Cleaner.zip
    https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcen...

    Reinstall from Microsoft Store

    4. Run Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter
    Windows Key+X > Click Settings > Click Update & security > Click Troubleshoot > Scroll down to the bottom > Click Windows Store Apps > Click Run the Troubleshooter

    5. Reset Microsoft Store through Command Prompt
    Type cmd in Windows Search box > Right click on Command Prompt > Run As Administrator > Type WSreset.exe and click Enter > Reboot your computer

    6. Re-register All Store apps (You will get many Reds, ignore them)
    Windows Key+X > Windows Powershell (Admin) > Copy the following from below and right click in Powershell to paste > Enter > Restart your computer

    Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

    7. Uninstall & Reinstall Store
    Windows Key+X > Windows Powershell (Admin) > Copy the following from below and right click in Powershell to paste > Enter

    Get-AppxPackage -allusers *WindowsStore* | Remove-AppxPackage

    Copy the following from below and right click in Powershell to paste > Enter > Reboot your computer

    Get-AppxPackage -allusers *WindowsStore* | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

    8. Try to run launch the game from a local account

    Thanks!

    :)

    It’s a bit strange, but I was cool with it because I used to do it at my old job.

    Hi TCannonNS,

    Welcome to Xbox Community Forum. Thank you for sharing your concern with us today and we hope that all is well.

    We're sorry to hear that you were unable to launch your games because of the Microsoft Store Package Dependency Installer asking for permission. Let us check on this together so you will get back to gaming.

    We found a thread that might help you with this issue, please go to this link - Microsoft account | Devices under Microsoft Store device management and sign into your Microsoft account (the account you use to log into your computer). Select Manage and begin to unlink few devices that you will not use to play games. As the main reason of Microsoft Store device management is to clear out your list of downloaded apps and games from Microsoft Store on devices you have link your account into. Please check this thread - Microsoft store package dependency installer - infinite loop and the reply of

    Neptizzle.

    Aside from that, you may try to update your PC and Xbox apps (Xbox app/Xbox Console Companion, Xbox Accessories, Xbox Game Bar, Gaming Services). Restart your device and turn off any antivirus (if you have any). Lastly, try to run your apps or games in administrator. Let us know if the issue still persists.

    Please, do not forget to check here for known issues that might be related to your concern.

    Thanks TCannon.

    Such a shame that this had to happen. Amazing that it seems to be ignored and for the people who are not computer literate a nightmare. I am a little leary of giving them control of my computer. Did that portion bother you?

    Hey Cloud39

    I ended up having to call support. The Microsoft support line just directed me back to the forums, so I called the Xbox support. I got in touch with someone on the phone who was able to get in and fix it. Still not sure what was broken, but it works now!
