Microsoft store is saying I need to buy Master Chief Collection again

I first bought The MCC when it came out on Xbox a few years ago. When I got my pc I figured it would let me download it there also since I was using the same Xbox account. Sure enough, it worked and I downloaded it from the Microsoft store without needing
to buy it again. Now I recently got a new pc and I was downloading my games again (Sea of Thieves, Forza Horizon 4) when I saw that I needed to buy The MCC again. After doing some research I found out that The MCC is not a play anywhere title. If this is so,
then how did it let me download it without buying it on my old pc? Both my old and new pc have the same Microsoft account on them.

I must have had a subscription still that carried over from Xbox when I got my old pc. Thanks for the help.

Have you had Game Pass Ultimate or Game Pass for PC? MCC is included in Game Pass.

The Original Xbox version of Halo CE is only backwards compatible on the the 360
To play it on the One X you would need Halo The Master Chief Collection which includes
Halo CE Anniversary

Halo 2 Anniversary

Halo 3

Halo 3 ODST - available as add on content

Halo Reach - available as add on content

Halo 4

It's a part of the Master Chief Collection, as an add-on, so you'll need to install the Master Chief Collection and access it from there. It's not a stand-alone title.

Did you install via the Windows 10 Store or Steam or for Xbox?

Halo 3 is part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection which consists of Halo 1 - 4.
