Your game save isn't gone. From my understanding, game saves from Microsoft Store version and Steam version aren't compatible (different platform)....using the Steam version starts you from the beginning. If you go back and play the game through your Microsoft Store version, you will be able to access your game save.

Try updating the game for Microsoft Ultimate Word Games from the Microsoft Store app and then try to play it again. It should be saved to the cloud.
