    Microsoft store and xbox app are stuck


    So I uninstalled Age of Empires II Definitive edition via the windows app&features removal. The problem now is that the store keeps finding it as installed and "tries" to download it from the start so it doesn't allow the rest of the apps to download and
    update. I try to force other apps to "download now" but it doesn't do anything it shows the swirl that it is loading and goes back to age of empires.

    The problem is that it doesn't register any progress on downloading it anywhere. I tried playing sea of thieves because a friend of mine bought it to play together I get a "version mismatch please update your version" message.

    I tried wsreset.exe I tried some powershell commands, I uninstalled the xbox app and now it is also stuck on that endless microsoft store app loop. Can someone please help?? After all these years of "knowledge" one would assume microsoft would knoww how to
    setup a store app or even have it function with the rest of the windows shell when you uninstall something via the basic windows uninstaller but evidently that isn't a thing in these years.

    I previously encountered error 0x803FB005 when trying to update Game Bar (System Components) in Microsoft Store - that's now fixed, thank you.

    Next problem, like others have mentioned, is that the Xbox app in Microsoft Store needs an update, but it's stuck on "Downloading". Will keep trying.

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.



    As workstation PC is managed by your IT, it would be best to reach out to them first. Issues with getting stuck at Xbox app installation on Microsoft Store and stuck on Xbox logo upon launching Xbox app will occur if your PC is either connected to secured network or restricted by the IT.

    Inform your IT admin that you would like to install Xbox app. This way they can either install it to for you.

    Metro Exodus downlaod from MS store is stuck and cannot even be stopped.

    I apologize for your question going unanswered this long. I will try my best to assist you in this matter.

    • open windows app store (microsoft store)
    • log out from your primary account (in the microsoft store)
    • go to windows services
    • stop "windows update service"
    • erase contents of folder: C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution
    • restart your computer
    • open windows app store, log in yourself
    • start xbox app (beta)
    • download game
