Thanks holding the power button for 10 seconds worked.

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums. We recommend
power cycling your console by holding down the power button on the console for ten seconds. Also, performing

a soft factory reset can resolve the issue. This is the type of factory reset that keeps games and applications installed on the console. This will remove all profiles from the console. Therefore, the email address and password of those accounts must be
known before this step is taken. Be sure to let us know the results!

Didn't work for me so I cancelled the update and it disappeared. Checked for updates and none available so I guess it worked.
