microsoft says warranty expired for console

Purchased a console in the summer of 2017 and now it needs repair but online it tells me that the warranty expired oct 24 2017.

Anyone who told you that Microsoft will repair a console for free after the warranty has expired is lying to you. If it is out of warranty you will have to pay the $80-$100 for a repair.

Goose USM, wow that's really unfortunate. I'm sorry to hear that. If your warranty hasn't expired, you should definitely take your console up to the microsoft store (or call support), because they're actually pretty good about getting customers replacements
for free. If you can make it to a Microsoft store, they'll usually exchange your xbox for another right then and there (if your warranty hasn't expired).

If you have a copy of your receipt with the serial number printed on it, make a digital copy of it and save it.

Then contact Xbox Support, let them know about the console issue, see if they can help with resolving the issue.

Also let them know that you bought the console less than a year ago and that you have a copy of the receipt.

They should send you an email and have you reply back and attach a copy of the receipt in that email and they will get manager to adjust the warranty date for you.

If you don't have a copy of your receipt, there's nothing that they can do for you.

Console was purchased directly from Microsoft. Warranty expired Jan of this year...

We won't know until later, but if you call MS you may be able to extend the warranty on an Xbox One a second time. For the 360 it's possible as long as the extended warranty hasn't expired.

This time around it shouldn't be necessary.

The console comes with a one year warranty from MS...... why is this discussion still going? The consumer has a responsibility in the warranty process.... and when warranty expires, it expires....
