Microsoft rewards not recognising phone number

So my Microsoft account has back up email and phone number attached but when I go to redeem rewards I get to a screen where Microsoft wants to confirm my identity by sending me an SMS but this screen also claims that I have no phone number on my account, which I do since 2012. If I try to add my phone number again from this screen, I enter my number and no code is ever sent to verify. There is no way around this error loop, all rewards remain unclaimable. What is also odd is that I use the Microsoft authenticator app and this screen disregards it totally.

Use a different device or internet connection: Try redeeming your rewards from a different device or internet connection, such as a different computer or a mobile device using cellular data instead of Wi-Fi.

Wait for an update: It's possible that there may be an issue with the Microsoft Rewards system that is affecting multiple users. In such cases, Microsoft may be working on a fix, and the issue may be resolved in a future update.

If you're still unable to add your phone number, this may be due to the number you're adding is already associated with a different Microsoft account.
