If you have installed the game offline once you connect to Xbox Network you should be able to update it without any issues. Kindly perform an extended powercycle and reset your network hardware.

1. Unplug the power cable from the back of the router, modem, or gateway for 5 minutes. If you have a router and a modem, unplug the power cable from both devices.

2. Press and hold the Xbox button on your console for 10 seconds or until it turns off then wait for 2 minutes before turning it on again.

3. After 5 minutes, plug the modem or gateway in first, and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

4. If you are using a router, plug in the router and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

From what I've got from the DF video, this game seems to lack any sort of dynamic resolution scaling, a pretty common method of hitting a particular performance target on consoles.

It's highly possible the devs could optimise this game further, it may not be stuck to its current form. Take Assassins Creed Valhalla, it was only 30fps on Series S on release, then had a 60fps update. The now sadly discontinued 'FPS boost' program proved that the Series S could run games at 60 and some titles at 120fps.

Take into account that during the start of development, the developer wouldn't have had access to the complete specifications of the machine. Games take several years to make. Just because this game doesn't perform well, doesn't mean others will be the same as well.

I'm a hardware guy, I build my own gaming PC and I'm foremost a PC gamer, I know tech. I do also own a Series X though. The Series S is an entry level console meant for the casual crowd. Microsoft didn't lie about it's capabilities, we seen it. But, it's up to developers work with the limits of the system.

However, this game, Dying Light 2, arrives well into the new generation of consoles and has three graphical options for Series X and PS5, yet only one for the S. I get what you're saying about the S being an entry level machine only, but a lot of people will nevertheless be very disappointed. Dying Light 2 is a big game and highly anticipated. Series S owners are paying a next-gen price for the game and will wonder why they're only getting a last gen 30 fps performance.

Hi there! The patch doesn't address the FPS issue, and Tech Land have said they can't do anything about boosting performance because the Series S's GPU is holding them back. Some You Tubers like ReviewTechUSA have questioned this response, citing the 60 fps patch for AC Valhalla as one example of developers making the technology deliver. DL2 is quite a good looking game but I don't think it matches Far Cry 6 for visual quality. For a start, DL2 has painted skies instead of the dynamic weather that FC6 has. However, the movement of your in-game character, combined with the combat mechanics in DL2 is definitely more complex in terms of all the variables, like multiple enemies flanking you and your ability to side step and then sometimes take unpredictable swings with your melee weapons because you're under pressure. This must put a lot of stress on the hardware I'd imagine.

I'm actually playing the game and enjoying it, even at 30 fps, and if truth be told, that's how I've played games for years because I prefer owning a console over a pc. The main takeaway is that Dying Light 2 has a stable frame rate on the Series S.
