I think they might have told someone what they were doing then that person they told reported them for it or Microsoft looks at all the accounts in the family and sees one or more accounts don't have the same last name then bans them. I don't know this
for sure. it's just a guess.

i would say, checked by some algorithm, frequency and amount, usage facts etc.

Thank you for the reply. Also I've read somewhere that people get banned from having a multiple account. What do they mean by that? And how do they know if a group is own by a single person?

the Microsoft Rewards FAQ says a level 1 Microsoft Rewards member may only give or receive 1,000 points per calendar month. Level 2 members may give or receive 5,000 points per calendar month. These limits may change over time.
