I purchased an Xbox One last November. I live in China. Recently, my controller, which is under warranty, broke. The B button got stuck in the down position.

I went through the steps, I sent in the serial numbers and pictures of the problem. Microsoft refuses to send me a replacement controller unless I send them the defective one first. Once again, I live in China. Sending them the defective controller will cost
me a lot of money in shipping and it will take several weeks.

That is [Mod Removed - Profanity]. Microsoft does not stand behind its products.

    :)

Hi, I'm sorry about the problem but Microsoft does so. Post the pads they do see it and in case the pad has serious problems you will exchange it. Shipments are free from as I know. Call support
No shipments for.accessories.arent free unless you have the xbox TOTAL warranty

@op yes it is normally required for you to.send in the accessory furst

However you have ro send it in locally as long as its a locale console

If you bought it overseas like the US then yes you do have to send it internationally at your own cost

This is common practice. They need to prove that the controller is broken.

Otherwise people can take advantage of them.

This is how it is everywhere not just China.

I'm not saying that this is what you are doing but this is so people will not just say they have a broken controller and want MS to ship them a new one and then not ship back the broken one.

    Hi there,

Sending in the defective item first is a standard practice for most companies that offer warranty repairs. Just like not all companies cover the shipping charges for sending in the item to be repaired. Policies vary from company to company.

No one in the forums will be able to assist with specific warranty issues. You have to go through the

    Device Repair page
    , or see if
    support will be able
to find a closer address to send in the defective controller.

Depending on the shipping costs, it may be cheaper to purchase a new device. I have done this when the price for the repair was more than the value of the item that had a warranty.
