Hi There,

All controllers have already been updated (and were up to date previously, therefore no change in firmware - v 3.1.1221.0), and headset was plugged in during all attempts.

System has been reset

Issue still present on both newer 1708 model controllers and they will not recognize the mic/headset.

Any other suggestions/ideas?

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. This definitely sounds tricky, but I believe I understand the issue.

I know the controllers are up to date however, have you
checked for controller updates while having the headset plugged into the console? You are able to click on update even if the settings tell you that it is up to date. The console will then check for any new updates for the controller.

Aside from that, it's possible that a software corruption/issue is the cause of this issue. A software factory reset would solve that right away.
You would not have to redownload any games and apps. You will

I agree. What a huge disappointment. I can only imagine what people are thinking who bought a $250 headset... Back to my mono headset. And they originally were planning on not releasing the mono headset at all! Lol. I hope the feature can be patched in.

I would presume then that your system is reading them as stereo headsets rather than Mono headsets if it's exhibiting the behavior, it would take when using a stereo headset, otherwise the issue would not be occurring. I've ordered an Xbox chat headset to test and see setting adjustments when plugging in a Mono headset. (It is from 2018).

Seems that it's either the Xbox is not reading the headset properly or something within the headset is telling the Xbox that it is not a Mono headset. If it's the former, then the report may display that. You did mention that some of your friends are experiencing this issue, do they have similar headsets to your own?
