Microsoft has created two accounts to the same email address

One one Xbox profile can be linked to a Microsoft account. If you're being signed into a different Microsoft account, it is likely your actual account has been compromised and the sign-in info was changed. Check your email inbox for any notifications regarding your account.

How do I create a new Microsoft account with the same email address as the Microsoft account I am using right now, when I go to create a new account it says I can't use the email because it's already used for this account?

What the person above said is flat out incorrect as far as I am aware.

Unless something has changed very recently youve never been able to have two different Microsoft accounts under the same primary email address. Its always been one unique email per account.

So if I understood correctly, all your son's games, purchases and progress are under your account, right? Well, nothing can be transferred between accounts. Games, purchases and progress included.

The only way to make this work is by adding an alias email to your account (a second email address to it), and then making this second email address the primary email for your Microsoft Account (which will then be used by your son). Then, you can delete your current email address from the account and create another Microsoft account for you with the same email address.

But, there's an issue. You can't add to your Microsoft Account an alias email address that is linked to another Microsoft Account (your son's current email address). So you have only two options here:

1. You can create a new email address to be used as an alias to change your current Microsoft Account email address. But it needs to be created on the "Add an alias" page:

- Sign in to: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=529489
- Under the Account Aliases section, select Add Email.
- Choose Create a new email address and add it as an alias, and then follow the instructions.
- After you've added the email address, verify it by clicking on the link that you'll receive on your inbox.

2. You can delete the Microsoft Account that has the email that you want to use as an alias (your son's current email address). After you delete it, you'll need to wait 60 days for it to be removed from the Microsoft system and it'll be available to be used again. You'll need to create it on the "Create a new email address and add it as an alias" page.

Unfortunately, these are the only two options you have. I'm sorry about this.

I have two accounts with identical email addresses and passwords, one of which I use for my Xbox and the other of which I created accidentally, but when I attempt to log into my primary account, it logs into the accidental account, and I'm not sure what to do.

There has to be some sort of slight difference in the emails. Even if its just a very minor difference.

Its not possible to have two different Microsoft/Xbox accounts under the same exact email address.

How else would it know what account to log you into if it allowed you to have two accounts under the same email? It just wouldn't.
