Microsoft says Series X can do up to 8K/60FPS. However, game devs working with their new hardware are finding that the machine ''struggles'' to perform 60FPS at 1440p! Here is a direct quote from Valhalla creators who were trying to fix the FPS issue for Series X...

''Still, the analysis found that even at 1440p, the console struggled to maintain 60 FPS. To combat this issue, Ubisoft lowered the resolution threshold in Assassin's Creed Valhalla for the Xbox Series X''. (EMPHASIS MINE)

So why does Microsoft lie about their hardware? It cannot be capable of 8K/60FPS when it cannot even do 4K at 60FPS! And actually ''struggles'' even at a lower 1440p!!! Why is their new hardware so weak? Why do they lie about it?

    :)

    It doesnt

    It depends

You are forgetting the most important point

Ubisoft isn't a first party publisher

Guess what series x does 4k 60hz easily on resident evil and halo

Whenever a game will.run properly is dependent on the developer. Not the console

    Look at calisto protocol

    Rated at 4k 120hz

Top.tier.pcs can't run it at 4k not without issues which they still have performancr issues

Yet xbox is the only system that can

Did you know crysis couldmt run on top tier.machines when it was released

Performance and.stability is at the hands of the.developer

Like.the developers of.calisto protocol they went special effects .over.performance and it cost them.badly

    I.have it.om a switch pro.which has the same specs.as ps5

    Hopefully deadspace.remake. Doesn't make.the same mistake

Like sword said there are games that can do 60hz 4k it depends on the developer

As cyberpunk and calisto protocol learned high res doesn't mean performance if your engine is poor it's not like the ps3 where the hardware had a huge learning curve since we are talking rdna hardware

Did you know the ps3 as powerful as it was with 8 spis not all games could run at 1080p except for Sony exclusives till halfway into its life span

My question was not about gaming in 8K, but why Series X struggles at 1440p to do 60FPS. 8K was only mentioned as an example of how pathetic certain claims are about the console, since it cannot even do 4K at 60FPS. That's the only reason I mentioned it. However, 4K gaming at 60FPS IS INDEED a claim Microsoft makes. Yet it cannot do it. When devs try to have both, the hardware struggles too much. So lets just stick with 4K and forget about my mention of 8K.

Q: Why do they lie and say Series X can handle 4K at 60FPS WHEN IT OBVIOUSLY CANNOT?

2.5K for a system with a 3080, just wow, i got a 3080ti for less than £800 new, my system cost is less than £1600, let me guess you purchased when the prices were over inflated.

Your issue is that you don’t understand what you’re reading. Open world games are brutal on hardware. A 3090 can’t do the game at 4K/60. You’re taking a single example and ignoring the rest.

There are no 8K games. There are no 8k movies. None are planned. No home media formats or specs are even being discussed in any meaningful way. If and when that day comes, the system can handle it.

There are many games That are 4K/60 and even 120. A small, list

The HDMI version is what is being referred to, which is capable of 8K

    Hi,

Not sure where you've got the idea that the console is marketed as being able to run at 8K 60, this is not marketing that I've ever seen. Not even sure there is an 8K option in the system settings when connected to an 8K TV at the moment. And even if there is, the 8K option would only be for video content, not games.

Note that 8K is 7,680 x 4320 which is = to 33 million pixels, even the latest PC graphics card, the Nvidia RTX 4090, can't play games at 8K 60 natively. The RTX 4090 is a $2,000 GPU!

The marketing blurb for the machine on https://www.xbox.com/consoles/xbox-series-x states:

Says 8K HDR yes, but doesn't say gaming in 8K. Compared to a top end gaming PC it's weak, but for a console that costs only $600 £500 it's a pretty good deal.

My newly built gaming PC cost me nearly £2,500 GBP, five times the cost, it doesn't have a 4090 (it's a 3080), it's miles more powerful than my Series X and it can't do 8K gaming. It can play 8K videos though.
