Microsoft Flight Simulator suddenly slow

I have a 5600x, sapphire pulse rx 6700xt, Asus B550 plus motherboard, and a 650 watt Be Quiet power supply, along with 16 gigabytes of corsair vengeance pro memory. On the desktop my pc uses between 5 and 10% cpu and 40-50% memory. I have all ultra settings in Microsoft Flight Simulator except for the terrain and objects level of detail, which is 200 and 100 respectively. The dev mode in MSFS doesn't have the option to show the fps counter in the "options" section of the dev mode bar, and so I can't see whether I am cpu or gpu limited. I have a 144 hz 1440p LG monitor with Adaptive Sync/Free Sync enabled. When I first got the monitor (I upgraded from 1080p), it was very smooth and I got 40-50 fps without any lag spikes. Then, a few days ago, MSFS suddenly slowed down. It now 30-40 fps with lag spikes, and the cpu is at 40-50% usage, sometimes up to 80-90%. The gpu fluctuates between 70-99%. I know it is most-likely my cpu, but it wasn't slowed by the cpu before. Before the issues started, the gpu would stay at 99% and almost never go down. I hope that is enough information, I can provide more if anyone needs it. I just don't understand why this has happened. I closed extra background processes that I have added since then, but it still is slow.

Given that you're going on ultra settings, what kind of hard drive do you have? The game was updated a few days ago, so I would check your graphic settings to see if new features were enabled that might affect performance

I'm not a developer and I'm not making any developments, but I had dev mode on for the fps and to see if it was cpu or gpu limited, and I had MSI Afterburner so I could see the usage of each cpu thread and cpu usage, if that is what you wanted to know.

I have a Samsung 970 Evo NVME M.2 SSD for my main drive, and all MSFS files are stored on it. I also have rolling cache turned off (that caused slowdowns in the past for me). Ok. I'm pretty sure I tested it after the update, but I guess I'll try again. Have you found anything specific that has caused it to be slow for you that people haven't mentioned, like something that could limit CPU or GPU usage or cause some type of bottleneck? Have you had similar problems to what I've been referencing?
