I was able to resolve the frozen launch screen. In my case, there was no blue progress bar at all.

Here is what worked for me.

1. I tried to launch MS Flight Simulator 2020 from the XBox App (https://www.xbox.com/en-US/apps/xbox-app-for-windows-10) and found the XBox App was not installed on my machine. I tried to install the XBox App but the installer froze. So, I followed the
instructions here in the Sept 4, 2020 reply by XBF Diego M.

I'm sorry to hear those steps did not work for you. You may need to re-install the Microsoft Store app and other Windows apps using PowerShell. Try the following steps:

a: Press Windows key and search for PowerShell.

b: Then right click PowerShell and Run as admin.

c: Now type the following command and hit enter

Get-AppxPackage *windowsstore* | Remove-AppxPackage

Get-AppxPackage *xboxapp* | Remove-AppxPackage

After a restart, enter the following command (again in a PowerShell as admin):

Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

This will install any missing built-in apps you may have uninstalled. Let us know if this helps!

2. Then I was able to install the XBox App. I launched MS Flight Simulator 2020 from the XBox App, and it worked. It was able to get through the launch screen.

Note: I also went full screen before "clicking any key to continue". You might try that first.

I had a "é" in my user name managed to modify my windows user name aund user name directory ( pretty tricky, you have to check regedit etc...) and now it works .

Yea this issue of not bein able to use non-english letters breaks the game for me too. Absolutely embarrasing microsoft...
