I am getting this same message after upgrading my CPU 13700k/motherboard/RAM, still on Windows 11. I can open other games, just not MS Flight Simulator.

"Microsoft Flight Simulator can’t open because it is offline. The storage device might be missing or disconnected."

I followed the steps above and it did not resolve my issue. XBOX app wants to install it, though it shows another game in there as already installed and playable (Far Cry 5). Can you please help?

This is what worked for me. If you have MFS installed in another drive other than C:\, say D:\, then do the following;

Go to settings > system > storage > "change where new content is saved", then change where new apps are saved to the same drive you have MFS installed, in the case of our example it
would be from 'Windows (C' to '(D'.

I installed FS less than a week ago on a brand new Alienware PC. Only one drive in it and that's where I installed Flight Sim so I don't know what could possibly be wrong but I am getting the same error.

I somehow was unable to install to D:, the installer complained that the drive was disconnected. But my downloaded files are on E:, so since C: failed to install, and D: was disconnected, I tried E: and now it works. The installer just installs the launcher
or so to speak. The downloaded content has been on E: the whole time. Game started and worked after the install to C., but failed the day after. So I thought this was some HDD issue, weird that Microsoft is so incompetent. There is no rule that the folder
with downloaded data has to be on the same HDD as the launcher. This is a very poor way of making software.

I thought this was the year 2020. Maybe it is all a dream, lol. One would think that the most used operating system and it's developers would make things properly. But I guess the best way to earn tons of money is to steal data from others and create a store
that doesn't even work half of the time, and then add really weird glitches like this FS2020 launcher and install software. Also there are 3 items in my App manager that relates to FS2020. Is it really that difficult to make one working program package and
not confuse people with tons of utter garbage?
