Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 throws a 0x8007001f error when launching installation

Whenever I try to download and install MFS2020 from the Microsoft Store, download goes ok but installation stops briefly after starting and it throws the 0x8007001f error.

I'm running Windows 10 (version 1909), and the system is completely up to date, both Windows updates and Microsoft Store updates. It's running on a iMac 2019 on an external disk. Everything else runs fine and all other software and even Steam games perform
    flawlessly.

I've gone through quite a lot of troubleshooting. The following list is not comprehensive but shows examples of stuff I've tried:

    - Disabling all firewalls, antiviruses and similar software before installing.

    - Checking that my account has administrative privileges.

    - Resetting the Microsoft Store using wsreset.exe

    - Fixing/cleaning the registry.

    - Restarting the computer several times.

    - Deleting temporary files.

    - Removing Windows Store local cache files.

    - Running Windows Store troubleshooting tool.

    - Toying with the Powershell in order to try to install the downloaded files manually, but they're inside /ProgramFiles/WindowsApps and you cannot touch that folder by any means.

After doing a lot of googling too, it looks like it's not a specific issue with MFS2020, but with any game from the Microsoft Store that reads the classic "administrative privileges required" warning. And, from what I have found, Microsoft hasn't addressed
    this problem yet.

A proof of this is that when I launch the needed commands on the Powershell to install the game, it returns errors mostly related to missing MFS2020 folders, so there's definitely something there...

This is driving me nuts, because MFS2020 is the MAIN reason why I set up a Windows 10 drive in my iMac in the first place.

From what I've read, this does NOT happen with the Steam version, and I'm frustrated because I cannot even return the Microsoft Store version, because the game didn't even install properly, so the "return this product" button won't show up...

I hope someone shares this situation.

    :)

WOW, it worked, but after some epic workaround I needed to do. Sending lots of virtual beers over there. Thanks a lot!

If I opened the 'manage disk' window, no extra drive was showing after the Microsoft Store returned the well known error code. But it appeared once I cancelled the installation. Then I was able to right click on the drive, but all the options were unresponsive
and the drive unmounted by itself after a few seconds once and again, so I wasn't able to make the drive go online.

    There's a trick, though.

You can do that from the command line, invoking the DISKPART utility, typing 'diskpart'.

Once inside the DISKPART prompt, you can list all drives (list disk), select them individually (select disk), and activate them (online disk). If you're QUICK, you can select the MFS mounted disk and activate it in that brief moment between the completion
of the download and the start of the installation. Then, the application finally installs.

Same procedure goes for the Digital Ownership.

All of this makes sense, and it's 100% consistent with that "d----l" mode associated with the MFS2020 package. Probably a link to an offline drive.

I'm left wondering if the problem plaguing many gamers who use external drives and purchased games that require administrative privileges is the same as this one and, therefore, can be solved with this little trick.

    Thanks a lot again.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 throws a 0x8007001f error when launching installation

    Hello Manuel,

I have the absolute same issue here.

I bought a new external SSD HD, on USB 3.0, installed Win10 (Version 2004).

The System is connected with my MS Store account. After downloading successfully the FS 2020 premium Deluxe, after installing i get that same unexpected error message Code: 0x8007001F.

    All Drivers are actual.

I still don´t now what to do....

    Greetings Sven

I've been diggin deeper in this problem.

First things first: if I knew for a fact that resetting Windows would solve this issue, I'd consider doing it, but after the countless posts in many forums addressing this same (¿?) problem for other games on the Microsoft Store, I'm not willing to give
that drastic solution a try yet.

I've been teaching myself the Powershell commands and how stuff works there, and I've followed the route of manual installation:
    - Checking for previously downloaded MFS2020 packages (Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers).
    - Removing all MFS2020 Packages that were already installed (Remove-AppxPackage -Package ...)

After this cleanup, Microsoft Store downloads the package succesfully but it still fails to install. The package is there, apparently not causing any conflict, but the installation throws the very same error code.

When trying to install the package manually (Add-AppxPackage...), I get an error that basically says that the package cannot be found. I'm not sure if I'm running the command incorrectly or if there's something trickier there, but I lean towards the latter,
because even after having navigated inside the package (cd "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_1.7.12.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe"), a simple 'Get-ChildItem', 'dir' or 'ls' do not work. They all return a read error. But ONLY with this package.

It totally looks that there's something specific about this package, regarding privileges or access, that is messing with the installation. I must check now if this is what happens to other games that read "Administrator approval required for installation".
    Could anyone here confirm that?

If that was the case and there's no solution in sight, I think that Microsoft owes us a refund, given that there's no way to foresee this problem. Anyhting else would be outrageous.
