    Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 doesn't start up after initial download


    Hello fellow community members!

    Since I bought MSFS a few days ago I've been never able to start it up.

    First I got issues getting it downloaded. Now it is downloaded but doesn't start.

    I also placed that request at Asobo, I'll just paste it here:

    I'm encountering issues starting up MSFS after initial download. So when Microsoft Store and Xbox (beta) are stating that MSFS is installed and I click on Start/Run, I get (when started the
    first time after installation) a UAC prompt for a package installer. I confirm, and nothing happens afterwards. All I can observe is, that on the task manager the application shows up, allocating ~300MB of RAM and disappears a few seconds after with no effect.

    I'm using a 13" Microsoft Surface Book 2 (i7, 16 GB RAM, nVIDIA GTX 1050M).

    What I was supposed to see is probably the starting up of the GUI and the continuation of the download for the complete install.

    Hope you know a trick to get past this Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 doesn't start up after initial download :)

    Those guys look like they don't really bother.

    So... honestly, I don't want to generate bad moods or flame. I just want to get that simulator started. Why everything else is working like a charm and this piece of software is causing so many issues? Can
    someone please assist here?

    Why did they downgrade Microsoft flight sim 2020?

    It's the strategy of the Asobo Studio. This stupid studio deceived the gamers and downgraded the game to sell Microsoft Flight Simulator 2022 or whatever. I cannot even believe how the Microsoft directors made such decision.

    You know what? Microsoft Flight Simulator 2022 will have the same graphic with the initial launching of MS Sim 2020.

    Hello, Yes, it is possible to configure Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 updates to be downloaded to an external folder. To do this, follow these steps:

    Open the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 application.

    Select the Settings icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

    Select "General" in the left sidebar.

    Scroll down to the "Updates" section.

    Select the "Use a different location for updates" option.

    Select the external folder where you want the updates to be downloaded.

    Select "OK."

    Once you have completed these steps, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 updates will be downloaded to the external folder you selected.
