Microsoft Family Safety - Multiple "Second Notices" despite having taken action

July 19, 2023, receive an email requesting consent for something in Microsoft Family Safety (email contained a lot of text, but no explanation as to why or how to get help).

July 20, 2023, received confirmation of consent being done.

    August 21, 2023 "Second Notice"

    September 18, 2023 "Second Notice"

    October 18, 2023 "Second Notice"

We are supposed to trust them with our safety? How would we even contact someone there if there was a severe problem???

Microsoft Family Safety - Multiple "Second Notices" despite having taken action

Hello Randomname00, My name is David. I am an independent advisor, happy to help you today.

I understand that you are receiving recurring emails requesting you to update your Microsoft account. This can be confusing, especially if you have already followed the instructions provided.

First, it is important to mention that Microsoft will not ask you for security information about your account; which means that emails from unknown addresses requesting this type of information are totally false. Therefore, you should never fill out their forms or access the links suggested by them.

However, if you receive an email from the Microsoft Accounts team and the domain of the email address is @accountprotection.microsoft.com, you can open the message with confidence. Microsoft uses this domain to send email notifications about your Microsoft account. These notifications may include security codes for two-step verification and account update information, such as password changes.

If the emails you are receiving are legitimate and come from Microsoft, they could be about the need to confirm parental consent for your child's account. This is a security measure to protect minors and their data online.

If you have already given your consent and are still receiving these emails, I recommend that you log back into your parent account and review the notifications in your account.

    Best regards.

Can you report someone after they report you ?

banned for a word in message

    Hi,

You won't be notified if your reports results in a ban. The enforcement team do look at reports and issue suspensions/bans, but it may take longer for some reports to actioned that others.

Anything that contains expletives, or uses sexual and racial harassment will always have action taken. You just need to be patient.

If someone sends you a message that breaks the Xbox Live ToS, all that is required of you is to report and block. Do not respond to these messages.

Can i possibly recover my banned account?

    Hey there, Verified Dawg😎

It doesn't matter how many times someone reports you. The Family Safety team investigates all reports submitted on Xbox. If the reports were false, then no action is taken against you, but they may act against the people who were misusing the report system. If the reports are valid and the agent feels as though you have broken the Xbox Community Standards, then an enforcement action is issued.

In your case, the agent who dealt with the reports submitted against you must have felt it necessary to issue and enforcement action on your account. This could have been based on one report or multiple reports.

There is an FAQ article answering frequently asked questions on enforcement actions which may be helpful: Xbox enforcement action FAQ | Xbox Support

I get this isn't news you want to hear. Please be aware that the Family Safety team do not read these forums. The only way to reach them is via the case appeal system on your enforcement record, providing you are eligible to submit a case appeal.

    Hope this information is helpful,

    Nathan
