    Microsoft Changed my Child's Gamertag


    It was a Microsoft assigned default gamertag. I didn't even create it. The kids liked it, and when we turned the Xbox on today, and it changed. No emails, or account notifications, it's just changed. Can someone look at this and tell me why it was modified
    without notice? 1) We're all disappointed that it was changed, 2) At first glance it looks like the account was compromised because we didn't authorize the change and we weren't notified that Microsoft was doing anything.

    The only time Microsoft changes gamertags is if the enforcement team issued a forced gamertag change for a gamertag that violates the code of conduct. If that is the case, you would need to go to http://enforcement.xbox.com

    If that is not the case, you would want to contact support and have them start an unauthorized access investigation if you believe the account has been compromised. http://support.xbox.com/contact-us

    You can certainly change the e-mail associated with your child's gamertag. Please visit this page
    here and read under "Can I switch my gamertag to a different Microsoft account?". When you change the e-mail on
    the child's account, you'll be prompted to enter in the parental information tied to the child's account before you can proceed.
