Microsoft app, to dedicated server. ARK. failed to join.

I'm trying to join my friends dedicated Ark server, that has crossplay enabled. He's been runnig his server for years. I've played on it via xbox.

Ark, bought through the xbox store, will not let me join, it will try to load PrimalGameData_BP a dozen times, then it puts up the message, failed to join

I also can't join any other games, the "join Ark' button won't even highlight for me.

Can you please help?

Thanks for reaching out to the forums! We are sorry to hear about your issue and would like to help out. After doing some research on the Ark support site I would like to recommend that you temporarily disable port forwarding on your router (at least port 25147) to see if that fixes your connection issue.

Keep in mind that for your PC to be reached from the Internet, it must be in the DMZ of your router, the router has its own firewall to prevent network intrusion, bypassing this firewall by putting your PC in the DMZ could put your device at risk, keep that in mind.

It is curious that the game support does not offer help on a game issue, if they themselves told you that they cannot help you, you could post your problem in the game forums and check if any player of their community can help you.

The game Support does not offer Support on dedicated Servers at the moment.

Thank you! The firewall was exactly the issue! I modified the firewall for ark to be accepted and everything is working great! This high end gaming laptop definitely smoothed out the game and the textures are extremely detailed! I greatly appreciate your response!
